ONA Marine collaborated with a tug operator to develop a purpose-designed bow fender foundation. Tug fendering systems are subjected to significant bearing and tearing forces as vessels manoeuvre and handle ships within ports, making robust structural support essential to minimise damage and premature wear.
Working to the client’s requirements, ONA Marine developed a structural foundation designed to distribute high traction loads across the bow structure, reducing localised stresses and protecting the vessel from unnecessary wear and tear. The resulting design incorporated a readily fabricated foundation with a bolted base plate, allowing straightforward retrofit installation and future replacement of the rubber bow fender section.
